November 26-28 – Thanksgiving Break

Guidance

This is a last call for all sophomores and juniors interested in attending the governor's summer academies for Spanish, French or Japanese. There are also academies for math/science and technology, humanities, and agriculture. See Mrs. Herndon today!

Any 9th grader interested in a science or technology is invited to attend the summer BLAST program at UVA and VT. See your counselor for more details.

Miller Motte Technical College is hosting a shadow day/open house to learn more about their programs. See your counselor if you'd like to visit Miller Motte on Dec. 9

Clubs / Miscellaneous

Congratulation to the Varsity Girls’ Basketball Team for their win over Gretna last night by a score of 46-30!

The JOSTENS class ring representative will be here on TODAY, Nov. 25th during all lunches to make any class ring adjustments or to pay final balances and pick up your class rings. Any Junior or Senior can still place a class ring order at this time with a $50 deposit.

Attn Juniors: If you did not receive your ring at the dance Saturday it is in the main office. If you did receive your ring, your box is in the main office as well.

World History I Remediation will be held during Flex today, and will not be after school.

The Spanish Club T-shirts are $10 for members and $15 for non members. If you want your name on the back it's an additional $5. The shirt is black with white and green writing and say "We Don't Want to Get Jalapeno Business." Please bring money to Mrs. Morton in E218 before Winter Break.

The next meeting of the NHS will take place Tuesday, Dec. 9th at 3 p.m. There will only be one meeting, so please make plans now to attend.

New NHS members are reminded to turn in all signed paperwork by December 5th and to pay dues by December 9th. Paperwork may be given to Mrs. Bailey or Mrs. Gaulke. Dues need to be taken to Mrs. Gaulke.

The French Club Relay for Life team bake sale has been moved to Friday, December 5th during all lunches.

Sports

Boys JV Basketball players need to stay after school and report directly to the locker room.

Off Season Conditioning for football will be held on Tuesday and Thursdays starting on December 2. That is the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving break. Be dressed and ready in locker room at 3:05.

LOST AND FOUND – We have a variety of lost and found items in the main office. If you are missing anything, please come check out the items before Thanksgiving Break as they will be donated to charity.

Congratulations to the scholastic bowl team for their outstanding performance at the Cave Springs invitational on Saturday. Josh Saunders won sixth place in the individual competition and the team finished fourth overall.

A special thank you to the faculty, staff and students that help make the ring dance successful this year! We couldn't have done it without you! Mrs. Bullington and Mrs. Slate.

Mr. Orrell's 5th and 6th Period Government student's should report to the auditorium for class today, Monday Nov. 24.

Pep Band practice begins Today. Students that are interested should see Mr. Straw 1st or 7th period for a sign-up form in the band room.

The boys and girls basketball teams will open up their season Tonight with a benefit game at home against Gretna. The first 10 students will receive a free t-shirt. The girls will play at 6 with the boys to follow at 7:30.
