Our Mission Statement
All students will be free to learn in peace and safety and to make the most of their talents and goals.

PHILOSOPHY, OBJECTIVES, AND COMMITMENTS
The purpose of Yellow Branch Elementary School is to provide quality education that meets the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs of each student. We believe that all students can and will learn, achieve and succeed, through differentiated instruction, when actively engaged in the learning process. A safe and physically comfortable environment promotes student learning and a sense of well being. A student’s self esteem is enhanced by positive relationships and mutual respect among and between students, staff, and parents. We believe that the education of our students is a cooperative effort between the home, school, and community.
STATEMENTS OF BELIEF
We accept the purposes of education as stated in the Standards of Quality for Public Education in Campbell County and the State of Virginia.
The school program should be based on and adapted to the needs of the students in the school, and should focus on the student's intellectual, social, personal, physical, emotional, and aesthetic development.
Each student should be involved in experiences for the development of the fundamental skills of communication and mathematics. The communication skills are those of reading, spelling, language, writing, and listening. We recognize that the student should be provided with educational opportunities to develop skills relevant to social studies, the scientific process, and an awareness of the world and its people.
The student's program should include opportunities for development in the areas of physical growth, personal health, and safety. These may be provided through instruction in physical education including guidance in personal hygiene and fitness.
The school curriculum should include a program of fine arts to include development in the areas of music appreciation, skills, and concepts. Furthermore, opportunities should be provided for aesthetic development, and appreciation of the beauty of nature, and development of creativity in each student.
A program in technology should be provided to allow the student to develop computer and other technical knowledge and to stay current on technology changes and developments.
A program in the use of the library should be provided to include skills instruction and the appreciation of literature.
