Emma Green CCPS Graduate

I graduated from Altavista Combined School and Central Virginia Governors School in 2013.  I attended American University (Washington, DC) where I earned my degree in Public Relations & Strategic Communications with a Minor in Marketing. I  am currently the Public Relations Coordinator at LimeBike, a bike share company based in San Francisco. My goal for the future is to continue playing a role in the progressive sustainability, health, and transportation industries.
I began to develop my love for communications in my high school journalism class. Through the ACS Nuntius yearbook, I had the opportunity to lead and think creatively as part of a motivated editorial team, and to attend annual conferences at Columbia University in NYC to learn from professionals and to interact with other aspiring journalists across the country.  Most importantly, CVGS prepared me academically for my classes at AU. Because of the research and critical thinking skills, I gained at CVGS, along with the incredible opportunities I had in my classes there, I excelled in my classes in college.  This allowed me to pursue internships that led me to my job today. When I was younger, I thought I wanted a career in medicine; it was at CVGS that I realized I didn't want to pursue science itself, but to tell the story of the work of the scientists around me.  At LimeBike, I get to merge my passions for public relations, technology, sustainability, and health. It's ideal, and I credit my CVGS and ACS teachers who challenged me and cultivated class-wide exploration, innovation, and change.
