I graduated from Rustburg High School and Central Virginia Community College (through Campbell County’s Early College Program) in 2012.  I attended James Madison University, where I received a bachelor’s degree in Writing, Rhetoric and Technical Communications (WRTC) and School of Media Arts and Design (SMAD). My concentration in SMAD was Journalism. I graduated from JMU in December 2015. After graduating from James Madison University in December 2015, I served as an education reporter for Harrisonburg’s newspaper, the Daily News-Record.  Currently, I am an editor and communication specialist for B&W Associates in Woodbridge, Virginia. I began working at B&W Associates about a year ago. As an editor, I am responsible for running What’s Up Prince William, an online news site that covers non-profits, businesses, events and community issues in Prince William County. In addition to writing stories, I film and edit videos and implement Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategies. Search Engine Optimization focuses on how websites rank on search engines (such as Google and Bing). I am interested in becoming a managing partner for B&W Associates. As the managing partner, I would like to serve as the Director of Marketing and Search Engine Optimization.

Through my classes in the Early College Program and Campbell County Schools, I gained several skills that I use daily. My love for writing, editing, research, and communication was fostered by the English and literature classes I took at Rustburg Middle School, Rustburg High School and in the Early College Program. One of my favorite memories is from English class during my freshman year at Rustburg High School. My teacher, Mrs. Slate, often asked us to analyze and talk about various pieces of literature. Through these class discussions and through my conversations with teachers, I was encouraged to delve deeper into the various subjects we were studying at the time. These experiences have prepared me for my current position, where I often gain new understanding and help create solutions by simply looking beyond the surface.
