New P-EBT Cards for the R3 (January 2021) and R4 (March 2021) Files

The VDSS learned of a mechanical breakdown that caused a delay in printing certain P-EBT cards. New P-EBT cards for about 105,000 households were needed for data in the R3 and R4 files. As of yesterday, 30,000 cards had been printed and mailed. The VDSS is working with the vendor on a solution to make the cards available more quickly, but it could take an additional four weeks. Households will receive the cards as soon as possible. Benefits for R3 and forward will be available when the new card is activated.

Students who attend public school 100% virtually AND students attending public school under a hybrid modality(a combination of in-school and virtual instruction) are eligible to receive P-EBT. The release of P-EBT benefits will continue through the end of the 2020-2021 school year. The next issuance will begin on March 17.

The Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer (P-EBT) program is a federal program created in the spring of 2020 to supplement existing nutrition programs for low-income households while schools were closed due to COVID-19. To be eligible for P-EBT benefits, students must qualify for free or reduced-price school meals under the National School Lunch Program. Please see the full details on the flyers attached below.
